Job Introduction

    Adexen was mandated by a leading Logistics Group to recruit an experienced Procurement Manager for its operations in Nigeria. The position is based in Lagos, Nigeria.

Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the procurement of goods and services within the delegated authority and in compliance with Group procurement policies, procedures and processes aimed at effective, efficient and transparent achievement of Company’s strategic objectives, cost and wastage reduction, and vendor/supplier engagement.
    • Plans, develops, and manages all procurement and contractual aspects of the Company’s need for purchasing of goods and services to support the activities of the Company.
    • Negotiates prices, delivery, and credit terms with external vendors/suppliers in order to acquire the most cost-effective deals and to reduce procurement expenses.
    • Collaborates with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations to the company.
    • Provides advice on the full range of procurement issues, support and guidance at all stages of the procurement cycle and ensuring that the needs of the requisitioners are being met.
    • Tracks and reports key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improves effectiveness.
    • Develops and implements procurement policies, procedures, processes and strategies that are inventive and cost-effective to maintain efficient operations.
    • Sets up a user-friendly framework to manage all purchases (from preparation bid/tender documents, receipt and analysis of offers, appointment of suppliers, coordination of acceptance tests with technical teams, etc.
    • Sources and engages reliable suppliers and vendors in matters relating to placement of orders and responds to their inquiries.
    • Implements change and develops new processes to better procure goods and services.
    • Analyses market and delivery trends to develop procurement technologies and processes that support those trends.
    • Undertakes procurement on behalf of requisitioning officer in accordance with applicable rules and procedures.
    • Prepares and distributes invitations to tender and manages/conducts all aspects of bid/proposal evaluations in line with relevant rules and procedures.
    • Issues tenders and evaluates offers and make recommendations for the finalisation of purchases and the award of contracts following rules, procedures, and regulation.
    • Establishes and maintains schedules for on-going contracts, manages on-going supplier contracts from a procurement perspective and maintains repositories of procurement documentation and suppliers contract.
    • Maintains an inventory system for fixed assets, attractive items, articles of values and materials in hand, and leads the annual stocktaking.
    • Implements cost-effective purchases of all goods and services, as required by the company.
    • Ensures quality control and adherence to the company’s policies and procedures on supply chain management will be some of your main priorities when carrying the role.
    • Reviews existing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure on-going feasibility.
    • Builds and maintains long-term relationships with vendors and suppliers.
    • Controls the procurement budget and promotes a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
    • Performs all procurement and contracting activities including negotiation and preparation of contracts.
    • Prepares relevant reports to the Finance Director

Desired Skills and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or any other related field of study.
    • Master's degree is a plus
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in procurement, sourcing or purchasing, logistics, and supply chain management in a reputable organisation is required.
    • Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques.
    • Professional certification in Procurement, Purchasing and Supply Management is desirable.
    • Experience using supply chain management software and tools, including Oracle, SAP Ariba, and/or envision.
    • Proven track record of customer and efficient resource management.
    • In-depth knowledge of preparing and reviewing contracts, invoicing, and negotiation terms.
    •  Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access).
