Senior Accountant

Job Introduction

Adexen has been entrusted by a leading international provider of multidisciplinary technical and engineering services in the Oil & Gas industry to recruit a Senior Accountant. This role is based in Lagos.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial data, while supporting the business with reliable financial insights. 

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure the accuracy of financial records

• Review progress documentation and prepare customer invoices

• Ensure timely transmission of invoices and proper filing of supporting documentation

• Monitor accounts receivable and ensure prompt collections

• Compute and post provisions, including NCD provisions

• Perform account reconciliations and clearing in SAP

• Review forex adjustments and revaluation entries

• Maintain and update the chart of accounts

• Ensure proper accounting filing and documentation systems

• Implement and monitor internal controls over accounting transactions

• Book intercompany loans and debit notes in SAP in line with transfer agreements

• Support financial and tax audits and coordinate with internal and external auditors

• Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements

• Identify opportunities to optimize tax efficiency

• Monitor and support financial knowledge management within the organization

• Participate actively in HSE and quality management initiatives

• Identify risks and hazards related to accounting and administrative activities

• Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and regulatory requirements

• Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement

Desired Skills and Experience

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

• ACCA or equivalent professional certification preferred

• Strong technical knowledge in tax matters

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting roles within a large company or international environment

• Experience handling tax-related matters

• Prior experience in the Oil & Gas sector or in an industrial services environment is a strong advantage

• Strong knowledge of SAP and financial reporting processes

Skills & Competencies

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Solid understanding of accounting standards and financial controls

• Good presentation and communication skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel

• Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities
