The Vessel Manager is responsible for managing the operational performance of an assigned fleet, ensuring compliance with company standards, contractual obligations, and HSE requirements.
This role is central to coordinating vessel operations, supporting captains, and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Fleet Operations & Performance
- Oversee daily operations and performance of assigned vessels
- Ensure compliance with operational, safety, and company standards
- Monitor performance indicators and drive continuous improvement
Team Management
- Manage and support vessel Captains (objectives setting, evaluations, coaching)
- Lead and coordinate the operational team on a daily basis
- Act as the main point of contact between vessels and onshore teams
Client & Contract Management
- Ensure delivery of services in line with contractual requirements and budgets
- Maintain strong client relationships and ensure high satisfaction levels
- Monitor operational execution to meet client expectations
HSE & Compliance
- Promote and implement a strong HSE culture across the assigned fleet
- Ensure compliance with maritime standards (ISM, ISPS)
- Oversee audits and ensure timely closure of corrective actions
- Monitor incident reporting and support continuous safety improvement
Stakeholder Coordination
- Interface with internal departments (technical, crewing, supply chain, etc.)
- Coordinate with external stakeholders including classification societies, flag authorities, and suppliers
- Act as the designated point of contact for captains and key stakeholders
