The Company Security Officer is responsible for assessing and advising on security threats affecting vessels and ensuring the implementation of appropriate security measures across the fleet.
The role is key in maintaining compliance with international security regulations and promoting a strong security culture within operations.
Security Management & Compliance
- Ensure Ship Security Assessments are regularly updated and aligned with operational areas
- Oversee the update and approval of Ship Security Plans (SSP) in compliance with regulations
- Ensure compliance with ISPS and other relevant maritime security standards
- Participate in internal and external security audits
Risk Assessment & Prevention
- Analyze and communicate security threats, including piracy risks and geopolitical factors
- Develop and promote preventive measures and crisis response strategies
- Contribute to the Emergency & Contingency Response Plan
Operations Support & Coordination
- Ensure effective communication between vessels, operations teams, and governmental authorities
- Act as a key advisor on security matters for operational teams
- Support the Head of Security in implementing security strategies
Training & Awareness
- Promote security awareness and vigilance among officers and crews
- Participate in induction programs for new personnel
- Support training initiatives related to piracy, crisis management, and security procedures
Monitoring & Reporting
- Manage the tracking and closure of ISPS non-conformities and observations
- Maintain accurate reporting and follow-up processes within security databases
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance tracking
