Adexen was mandated by a leading maritime organization to recruit a senior Purchasing Coordinator for their operations in Nigeria. The position is based in Port Harcourt.
Responsibilities
To supervise the purchasing team and team activities to support company operations, especially backlog management and update of PR and PO in ORACLE.
Local and International purchasing supervision for vessels operating in Nigeria, provide supplies and services as per purchase requests received in a timely and controlled manner in accordance with relative procedures.
To handle tendering and contracting process, propose new tenders and update existing contracts.
To plan, organize and manage purchasing team from the request/spec to the delivery onboard the vessels
To ensure the follow up of the strategy set up within the organization
To ensure the follow up of the weekly review with shipmanagers and buyers
To coordinate assigned team
Desired Skills and Experience
Understand budget concept, evaluate needs effectively, gather and manage data, monitor and review against changes, continuous budget optimization
Identify, analyse and review key performance indicators.
Know-how to manage customers relationships (internal & external): understanding needs, building relationship, influencing, offering added value solutions, collecting and evaluating client feedback.
Knowledge of data collection, data mining, data analysis, benchmarking and statistical techniques. Know-how to select data and use appropriately for research business intelligence or to solve complex situations.
Knowledge of flag, class and port state requirements, Maritime national & international conventions and regulations.
Technical knowledge of offshore support vessel types.
Knowledge of national and international HSE legislations and regulations: SOLAS, MARPOL, ISO14001, OSHA, etc...
Knowledge of structural design and all technics (mechanical, electrical, structural...) related to hull, painting, machinery and know-how to supervise vessel conversion and operational maintenance (planned maintenance, conditional maintenance, corrective maintenance) and New Building if applicable.
Know industry standards: OVID, OSM standard, ISM, IMCA. Know-how to perform OSMSA related to his/her own scope of responsibilities.
Know-how to negotiate understanding objectives & constraints of all stakeholders, exploring acceptable alternatives, obtaining information, navigating solutions towards desired outcome.
Knowledge of contract/business law, implemented in the maritime/offshore industry, experience in drafting/negotiating contracts for both clients and suppliers, Able to manage legal dispute/litigation.
Ability to define and manage the tender process.
Strong knowledge of technical characterists of the material/services to acquire.
Knowledge of specific aspects of a range of commodities/services/works both technically and commercially. Understanding of industry cost structures and pricing mechanisms. Ability to carry out market analysis to identify new suppliers and to realize a regular market watch to identify related impacts on the contracts components (cost...).
Knowledge of customs regulations. Knowledge of the characteristics of the material transported. Ability to manage Incoterm procedures and relative documentation. Ability to prepare and plan adapted international distribution and freight.
Qualifications: HND, BSC in Purchasing Supply Chain or Social Science, Finance, Certificate in SCM/ Related certification
Minimum of 5 – 7 years in a similar role in a multinational organization.
