This is a strategic leadership role, combining governance and assurance with hands-on support to operations. The role requires deep knowledge of enterprise risk management, strong experience in the energy/oil & gas sector, and the ability to foster a risk-aware culture while enabling the Group’s growth agenda.
Design, implement, and oversee the Group’s enterprise risk management (ERM) framework.
Identify, assess, and monitor strategic, operational, financial, regulatory, and HSE risks across the Group.
Ensure robust systems, policies, and standards are in place to mitigate key risks and safeguard the Group’s assets.
Provide assurance to the Board and Executive Management on risk exposure and mitigation measures.
Develop and enforce risk-related policies aligned with international best practices (ISO 31000, COSO, IIA standards).
Coordinate with Audit, HSE, Compliance, and Finance to ensure an integrated approach to risk.
Oversee internal assurance activities, including risk-based reviews, audits, and compliance assessments.
Ensure adherence to regulatory and contractual requirements in all jurisdictions of operation.
Act as a trusted advisor to the Executive Management, and the Board on enterprise risks and opportunities.
Provide risk insights to support strategic decision-making and capital allocation.
Represent the Group with external stakeholders, including regulators, insurers, and business partners.
Promote a strong risk and assurance culture across the Group.
Lead training and awareness initiatives to embed risk management practices within business units.
Build and mentor a high-performing risk and assurance team.
Education: Master’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Risk Management, Law, or related discipline. Professional certifications (IRM, ISO 31000, CRMA, CIA, CFA, PMP) are an advantage.
Experience:
Minimum 15–20 years’ experience, with significant exposure to the oil & gas, energy, or large-scale industrial sectors.
Proven track record of leading enterprise risk management or assurance functions at executive level.
Solid knowledge of HSE, regulatory compliance, project risk, and financial risk frameworks.
Experience working across African or other emerging markets highly desirable.
