This is a strategic technical leadership role within the new business unit, combining deep engineering expertise with the ability to mentor teams, enforce world-class standards, and contribute to building a sustainable construction business.
Technical Leadership
Provide end-to-end technical expertise in the design, planning, construction, and commissioning of pipeline projects
Lead or support feasibility studies, route selection, permitting, and regulatory approvals
Define and implement standards, specifications, and quality controls aligned with global benchmarks (API, ASME, ISO)
Advise on material selection, welding techniques, corrosion protection, and inspection methodologies
Project Execution
Oversee contractor performance, engineering quality, and construction safety
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest international standards
Implement robust systems for project controls, risk management, and compliance
Provide technical input to tenders, bids, and project proposals, supporting business development activities
Team and Capacity Building
Mentor and coach local engineers and project staff, building strong internal capabilities
Promote a culture of excellence, accountability, and intrapreneurship within the pipeline team
Contribute to the unit’s knowledge base and innovation agenda, ensuring long-term competitiveness
Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with project owners, regulators, and technical partners to ensure alignment and compliance
Act as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director on pipeline-related risks, opportunities, and innovations
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Pipeline, or Civil Engineering
Advanced technical certifications in pipeline engineering or project management desirable
Experience
10–20 years’ experience in pipeline construction, with exposure to large-scale onshore and offshore projects
Proven success in delivering projects in Africa, Eastern Europe, or Central Asia, ideally in challenging or remote environments
Strong track record in technical supervision, contractor management, and risk mitigation
Skills and Competencies
