The successful candidate will lead all Health, Safety and Environmental activities associated with the rehabilitation and expansion of one of West Africa's largest port facilities. The role requires a strong field presence and proven experience managing HSE risks in complex marine construction environments including dredging, piling, heavy lifting, marine logistics and civil works.
- Develop, implement and continuously improve the Project HSE Management System.
- Ensure full compliance with Nigerian regulations, client requirements and international standards.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across all project activities and contractors.
- Lead risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), Method Statement reviews and Permit-to-Work processes.
- Monitor high-risk activities including:
- Marine operations
- Dredging works
- Piling operations
- Heavy lifting activities
- Barge and vessel movements
- Working at height
- Confined space entry
- Electrical and mechanical works
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety campaigns.
- Lead incident investigations and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate emergency response preparedness and drills.
- Manage subcontractor HSE performance and compliance.
- Monitor environmental aspects including waste management, water quality, dust, noise and pollution prevention.
- Prepare HSE reports, KPI dashboards and presentations for project management and client representatives.
