Head of Costing and Procurement - Expatriate

Job Introduction

    Adexen has been mandated by one of its clients in the real estate industry to recruit an Expatriate Head of Costing & Procurement for its operations. The position is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. 

Responsibilities

    • Pricing Database: Build up, manage and constantly improve a database of reliable and competitive rates for each country the Group operates. Liaise with colleagues locally to ensure accuracy.
    • Pricing: Accurately and timely price projects as per the Design and Company margin guidelines
    • Cost to Completion (CoC) & Cash Flow Forecast: Coordinate with Projects to draft CoC and regularly derive a simple project CF forecast
    • Quantity Surveying and Costing : (i) participate in implementing  a simple & robust cost tracking system for costs, (ii) analyze with Projects any variance vs Budget, (iii) make recommendations with Projects if needed.
    • Vendor Sourcing: Constantly look up for new vendors (materials & labors) with a view to increase the pool of suppliers, offer more choice to Design and drive down the Cost
    • Vendor & Product Database: Build up & manage a database of products and suppliers
    • Prequalification: Pre-qualify the vendors and constantly evaluate their performance
    • POs & Delivery: Directly or Indirectly raise POs for ongoing project and ensure the timely delivery of goods ordered
    • Vendor follow-up: (i) monitor Suppliers/Vendors reporting, (ii)ensuring Vendors/suppliers commit on schedule delivery, (iii) assist Project Manager in Change order management
    • Import, Transportation and Clearance (i) Define best strategy to import and transport goods to sites , (ii) negotiate and find the best deals to transport goods to African countries  

Desired Skills and Experience

    • Master's degree from a recognised university
    • 10 years of experience in a similar position within a leading international company
    • Outstanding technical skills
    • Excellent B-to-B Sales & Business Development skills or potential
    • Excellent & proven managerial capacities or potential
    • Fluent in English and French is a must. Portuguese is a plus
    • African business experience is a strong plus
    • Autonomous & reliable
