Since 1989, the nonprofit organization DKT International has been promoting family planning and HIV/AIDS prevention through social marketing in the developing world.
Today, DKT International designs and implements social marketing programs in 19 countries, employing 1,800 employees around the world. DKT has programs in Mexico, Brazil, Egypt, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Democratic Republic of Congo, Turkey, Thailand, Tanzania, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, Morocco, Ghana, the Philippines, Pakistan, and Nigeria.
In 2012, DKT’s programs served approximately 22 million couples, making DKT one of the largest private providers of family planning in the developing world. DKT’s sales totals for 2012 included 600 million condoms, over 76 million cycles of oral contraceptives, over 16 million injectable contraceptives, over 1.5 million IUDs, emergency contraception, implants, mifepristone/misoprostol, and manual vacuum aspiration kits.
