The Cotton Producers and Merchant Association (COPMA), is a strong commodity organization initiated and organized by the cotton stake holders in Katsina state, who engage in cotton production, processing, and marketing both domestic and international. It also covers all other cotton synergy.
Cotton is one of the major cash crop cultivated in Katsina state, it produces 60% of the total cotton production in Nigeria.
Cotton farming brings more than one million direct and indirect employments in the state. The farmers in Katsina state mostly defend on cotton farming to solve their financial problems.
COPMA is the iconic name in the state in protecting the cotton quality in collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
Establishment Of The Association
The Association is established in the year 2007 as Cotton Producers and Merchant Association, the association is being established to provide a forum for all Farmers and Merchants who deal in Cotton and Allied products to interact and make more meaningful contribution to sanitize the trade and for its growth and development.
And also to promote the acquisition of requisite skills in the trade through organising of workshops, seminars, fairs, shows and exhibitions as well as provisions of farming implements and facilities, et cetera.
