This deposit had been first mined by the British in the 1920s. Over time the mine had been abandoned, and all data had been lost. The deposit went through many different owners, all unable to revive the mine, until First Patriot took over the project in 2010.

In order to prove out a resource, given the lack of any data, First Patriot undertook an extensive program of 50,000 metres of diamond drilling. A resource was mapped out, and consequently a plan for a open pit mine, process and flotation plant was developed. The full plant was successfully commissioned in 2017. The plant continues in production, exporting concentrated ready for market lead and zinc products. These are shipped all over the World. First Patriot continues to support the Goals and Vision of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, investing in value addition, generating employment and generating foreign exchange for the country.
