Fatih University was founded by Turkish Association of Health and Medical Treatment on 18 November 1996. Its envision is to become a leading world university, that aims at theoretical and practical education, research and development, by participating in global developments and issues while remaining attentive to local perspectives.

Fatih University equips students with ability to access and generate knowledge and evaluate the acquired knowledge. Also, it contributes to the integration process of the country with the globe by presenting students and researchers with the most recent advancements made in Information Technologies.

Fatih University prepares platforms for students to be able to mix with different cultures for a long time, while it enjoys multiculturalism with its international students on the campus. Having English as a main medium of instruction, Fatih University has over 600 international degree seeking students from more than 65 different countries. The students are also provided with the opportunity of learning a second foreign languages such as German, French, Russian, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, and Persian.

Besides excellence in teaching, Fatih University focuses on becoming a leading research university. Towards this goal, the University has been allocating several resources for research projects in a wide range of disciplines. In addition, several research grants have been received from the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), State Planning Organisation, and EU Seventh Framework Programme. As a result of this, several research laboratories have been established and the number of publications has tremendously increased.
