GAMA’s first involvement in power business; including mechanical, electrical erection and instrumentation projects, which had been undertaken only by foreign companies until that point, emerged when GAMA became the representative for Babcock and Wilcox Co. of USA in 1964.
Successive representation agreements were formed with numerous well-known international companies, which eventually led GAMA into the realms of steam and power production technology and know-how. Throughout a period of over twenty years, the Babcock and Wilcox Co. relationship developed into a unique and long lasting affiliation in varying forms as a representative, licensee and finally in 1990, formation of a joint Company. This affiliation enabled GAMA to continue its activities in the design, procurement, manufacture, installation, operation and servicing of steam generators and steam plants under the name of GAMA Boiler Technology Inc.
Starting in 2002, GAMA has undergone an extensive restructuring process and established “GAMA Holding Inc.” in June 2003. In 2003, GAMA Boiler Technology Inc. transformed into a separate business entity under the GAMA Holding umbrella and was renamed as “GAMA Güç Sistemleri Mühendislik ve Taahhüt A.?.” (GAMA Power Systems Engineering and Contracting Inc.)
Since then, GAMA Power Systems became the strategic business unit of GAMA Holding to undertake Power Plant EPC Contracts, particularly in the gas combined cycle power plant arena. In a short time period following this transition, GAMA Power Systems Inc. accomplished remarkable achievements in providing engineering and contracting services to the international electricity generation market.
