First Ghana Savings and Loans Limited (FGSL) is a Non-Banking Financial Institution. It is licensed to operate as a Savings and Loans Company under the Non-Bank Financial Institution Act, 2008 (Act 774) and Banking Act, 2004 (Act 673) and the Banks and Specialized Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930).
The Company started as First Ghana Building Society (FGBS) in 1956, in 2006 the Society was transformed into a Limited Liability Company in order to become more competitive and also adapt to technological and economic changes in Ghana.
FGSL has its head office in Accra-Osu with ten (10) branches located at Accra-Adabraka, Tema, Kumasi-Amakom, Kumasi-Suame, Koforidua, Takoradi, Hohoe, Sunyani and Tamale.
The Government of Ghana through National Investment Bank Ltd (NIB) and Ministry of Finance owns about 98% shares in FGSL.
