Adexen Agency Services Ghana Ltd. is mandated by an international producer and marketer of food, agricultural, risk management, financial, and industrial products and services to recruit a Head of Electricals for its operations in Ghana.
Job description
The Head of Electricals will be responsible for direct coaching and supervision of internal/external electricians and automaton specialist, lead the electrical scheduling function for the plant, and coordinate the daily execution of the schedule with the other professional disciplines within the plant.
The head of Electricals will report to the Maintenance Manager
The position is based in Accra, Ghana
Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this office shall include but is not limited to the following:
- Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees.
- Supervise and coordinates activities of electricians engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machine equipment.
- Assists electricians in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment based on observation and application of knowledge from both experience and professional education
- Develop electrical preventive maintenance program in collaboration with maintenance manager and directs electricians engaged in repairing and maintaining parts of equipment and machines.
- Accountable for planning and timely execution of routine electrical/instrumentation maintenance and also for unforeseen repairs.
- Is responsible for using maintenance and reliability principles to improve the facility costs and productivity within the plant maintenance budget as well as responsible for a safe execution of works
- Support and encourage clear and open communication between team members and related stakeholders and ensure that the electricians are effectively trained
- Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees.
- Check and calibrate measuring instruments (especially measurements like PT-100 and thermo-couples).
- Back-up and organization of factory data (instrumentation, frequency converters, PLC and plant/process-automation).
- Ensures efficient maintenance and repair of electrical & electronic machinery and equipment for high production efficiency at lowest possibility cost and will be responsible for repairing instrument and control system in case of breakdown.
- Perform preventive maintenance of all instrument and process control system, assist in installation of all instrumentation and pneumatic appliances.
- Order spare parts, investigate in specific materials for small modifications/replacements
- Provide technical advice to operators handling machines and electrical appliances.
Qualifications et experience
- Bachelors degree in electrical, industrial or other related engineering field
- 5+ years of working experience in electrical / instrumentation / automaton maintenance
- A minimum of 3 years experience in management of electricians team
- Ability to develop and manage good working relationships with internal departments (production, sales, logistics, accounting), contractors, suppliers, inspectors and customers
- Ability to take off-hour calls and rotate on call accountability with facility staff as needed
- Ability to apply the company’s policies and procedures in the areas of health, safety, environmental and food safety
- Experience in using computerized maintenance programs, siemens S7 or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems using formal techniques to evaluate systems, equipment, and failures
- Demonstrated ability to organize and implement projects which improve the operational effectiveness of a processing facility.
- Proven experience in operation and or maintenance utilities installations and related equipment.
- Strong skills in human relations: many relations to be built, on a non-hierarchical basis.
- Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Project)
